Core Entities
Venues are the top level container for counts, and are composed of one or more zones. Typically you’ll have created a new venue by pressing the “Add New Venue” button on the dashboard settings page.
Zones (equivalently called ‘areas’ in our documentation and UI) can be thought of as “rooms” or “exhibits” - they are the smallest containers for counting people/items.
Devices, which predictably represent the TallyFi Counter hardware are the mechanism that adds counts to zones. A device’s mode determines how each button press is translated into counts for the zones with which the device is paired.
Events, are simple records of count changes. These are relative data points, for example +5 people entered, rather than absolute (10 people total). This is very fine grain data, and can be used for analyzing trends and looking at particular windows in time.
